When Midlife Begins to Call You Home

Have you been starting to feel different about life-y things and your place on your journey? Life might be chugging along and looking status quo on the outside, but something may have been rumbling on the inside either lately or for a while.

But nothing is outwardly wrong.

On the outside, you’ve been managing and doing you – working, caring for important things and people, and taking care of the every day. But on the inside, you’ve been noticing a restlessness or rising sensitivity that may be affecting your mood, motivation, and choices.

You can’t really point to one obvious problem, but maybe you’re noticing that the things that used to motivate you don’t feel the same anymore: maybe work feels flat and you don’t care as much about goals, or you feel uninspired from the same-old same-old.

Maybe you’ve lost that spark of wanting to accomplish things or being endlessly useful. And maybe you’re not as willing to tolerate certain dynamics anymore.

All of this can create a subtle confusion as you begin to face the idea that maybe you don’t want the same things anymore. As you face this, an inner impulse can rise as you admit some parts of your life feel hard, and compromising is harder to ignore. Parts of you even may want a “time out”.

And your body is catching your attention by signalling change with peri-menopause. Hormonal changes are real and deserve proper care, but biology may not be the only lens through which we understand this major passage in your and other women’s lives.

Let me guess: if you’re here, you have entered your 40’s.

Whether you acknowledge it or not, you are entering (or have entered) the midlife years. And this can raise existential curiosities with questions like: who am I now? What matters to me? How do I want to spend the years ahead? Is the life I’ve built still an expression of me?

This happened to me many moons ago, and acknowledging the changes the came after turning 40 brought challenges, healing, and a closer, deeper, more loving relationship to life and myself.

So what if you are going through an inner reorientation? There’s all kind of talk about midlife issues, but women tend to embrace more empowering invitations to address the possibility that we can no longer be who we’ve been and maybe the changes that align with the menopause years clarify who we are becoming. That sounds exciting to me!

As I look back at that time in my life, I wasn’t being called to reinvent myself or be someone new. I was being called to become more myself.

More authentic
More creative.
More connected.
More honest about what mattered.

That’s when I learned about the importance of life passages and spiritual initiations, so I faced the path of change and embraced the journey as a “midlife initiation”, and in hindsight, I saw that chapter as a passage of becoming, filled with the light of illumination.

This time in life is not about making drastic changes or adjusting a 5-year plan. It’s about listening to the inner self that is tracking change. There’s no real problem to solve or urgency, but there is a hidden question that might be poking you: what am I longing for?

And it’s OK to not know the answer as your body and desires and needs change as you reflect on the inner shifts in play, but it can feel strange and disorienting.

This is where spiritual companionship and Soul Expressions comes in. Inner rumblings are invitations to slow down, listen deeply, and discover what your soul has been quietly asking for.

This is why I offer spiritual companionship. Not because I have answers about who you are or who you should become. But because this time in life is easier to navigate when somebody like me can help you listen beneath the noise and surface activity, offering you perspective and inspiration (and really good stories of my own journey - the wonders and the wipe-outs!).

Together, we make space for the questions that don’t have quick answers as I offer a sacred pause to notice what is falling away, what is asking to emerge, and how Spirit may be gently inviting you into the next chapter of your life.

If any of this feels familiar, just know that you don’t have to navigate what you’re holding alone.

I created Soul Expressions because I believe every woman deserves a compassionate companion for the deeper passages of life who has walked through her own midlife initiation with grace and care.

If you’d like to explore this “season of becoming” more deeply, I invite you to download my free guide, a Soul Map to Awaken Your Midlife Magic. It’s an introduction to the inner landscape of midlife and the gifts that can emerge when we learn to listen.

And if, as you read, you find yourself wanting a companion for your own journey, I’d be honoured to connect with you.
